Employee Relations & Compliance Manager

Job Summary:

Manages relationships between employees and all businesses in the organization. Handles employee grievances, disputes, and disciplinary matters, ensuring fair treatment and compliance with company policies and employment laws. Plays a crucial role in fostering a positive work environment, promoting employee satisfaction, and mitigating potential conflicts, contributing to a harmonious and productive workplace.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders, leaders, Hiring Managers, and the People team to develop and implement Employee Relations and Compliance processes, procedures, and programs.
  • Lead bargaining agreements negotiations and perform as HRBP for all unionized employees.
  • Administer the unit’s program objectives, policies, and procedures, with a continuous process improvement mindset.
  • Responsible for enforcing regulations, as well as responsible for providing guidance on all compliance matters.
  • Ensure fair and equitable treatment of all employees, consistent with the -organization’s principles.
  • Stay abreast of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify and address compliance gaps.
  • Ensure that policies are effectively documented, communicated, and distributed to all employees.
  • Conduct high-level, high-risk or sensitive employee relations cases investigations, and oversee investigations.
  • In partnership with the appropriate internal legal resources and external (outside counsel, consultants) parties, operate as the lead for investigations and complaints from the Department of Labor (DOL), and other regulatory agencies.
  • Maintain discretion, confidentiality and security of all employee and proprietary company information, while always operating in an unbiased, high integrity, respectful manner that builds trust at all levels and demonstrates a sensitivity for cultural differences.
  • Leverage business, industry, current employee relations trends and rulings and internal metrics data to anticipate and prepare for potential employee relations problems and escalate issues to management in a timely manner.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field.
  • 7 to 9 years of experience in Human Resources, Compliance or Generalist roles. Experience working in a union environment preferred.
  • 1 to 3 years supervisory experience may be required.
  • Capacity to partner closely with the leadership team is critical.
  • Strong knowledge of HR policies & procedures.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of labor and employment law and employee relations.
  • Strong strategic critical thinking, problem-solving and negotiation skills.
  • Strong investigative and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Diligent and firm with high ethical standards.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, and presentation skills.
